Background Info

Ireland is divided into four provinces: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. Each province is made up of several counties. The province of Ulster is made up of counties from both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The Republic of Ireland has 26 different counties, and Northern Ireland has 6 counties - a total of 32 counties in the whole island of Ireland. Irish is the national and first official language, followed by English.
There are four main political parties in Ireland which are: Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Labour and Sinn Fein.
The Government
The Parliament (or Oireachtas)
There are two houses of the Oireachtas :
The Dáil: the the main legislative body whose members are elected by popular vote
The Seanad (or senate): to whichmembers are appointed by government, elected by local representative or elected in two university constituencies in which certain graduates have the right to vote. The Senate can debate legislation and propose amendments but it has no right of veto.
The Taoiseach
The most important political role is that of the the Taoiseach (Prime Minister), who is elected by the Dáil and so will almost always be the leader of the political party with the largest number of members in the Dáil.
The current Taoiseach is Leo Varadkar of the Fine Gael party.
The Cabinet
The Taoiseach appoints a number of Ministers who have day to day responsibility for various departments of Government such as Health, Education, Foreign Affairs and so on. Together with the Taoiseach these ministers form the Cabinet. The Cabinet is primarily responsible for running of the country. The President
Ireland also elects a president, who has no administrative duties but has defined roles in the event that the government is for some reason unable to govern and in cases where he or she believes that legislation passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas is unconstitutional.
The current very popular President is Michael D. Higgins.

Headcanons

Full name: Erinn Murphy (Éireann Ó Murchadha)
Estimated Human Age: 26 years old
Appearance: Red hair, sea green eyes, freckles (especially in the summer)
Birthday: April 24th
Main Family Members: Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Her Job: She works in the Roinn an Taoiseach (Department of the Taoiseach) in varying divisions. I feel like she would have the ability to move around through divisions, depending on where they may need her or her intereset. She wouldn't work directly with the Prime Minster or the President all the time.
Hobbies: Writing, reading, football, cooking, etc.
The land of Ireland was formed around 15,000 BCE once ice began to melt, one of the last glaciers to melt of the Ice Age. No human lived in the area until 7,000-6,500 BCE.
She doesn’t remember much of the start. Just small glimpses every now and again through dreams. Little sounds. Blurry images.
She looked up to both of her parental figures, Britannia and Celt. She bonded more so with Celt. It’s not clear when Celt arrived to Eire, but with it came the knowledge of iron working.
He taught her to how to defend herself, how to use a bow, a sword, and fight with her fists. He taught her to fight with fury, but to choose your battles wisely.
Her parents had introduced her to her siblings. Scotland being the oldest, then Eire, Wales, and England. When her parents would be away, she would take on a secondary mother figure.
Even so, she could still fight like her brothers did, and often beat them at it too.
It’s hard for Erinn to visit certain places, like in Connemara, for example. The mountains are beautiful, but the Famine houses in ruin still sit quietly are a hard reminder of the past. She’ll still build up the nerve to visit them, though. Eventually.
